Tonk and Gaitor - Rajasthan

Tonk
Also known as the "Lucknow of Rajasthan", Tonk is a very elegant little town in Rajasthan. It is famous for its colorful mosques, mansions and havelis. Spend a holiday in this beautiful little place, which boasts of a rich cultural and traditional heritage.

Tonk - Location

Tonk is about 100 kms from Jaipur, better known as the 'pink city'. Tonk is in the North Western state of Rajasthan.

Tonk- Must- See Places

A holiday package to Tonk almost always includes a tour of the Golden mansion or the Sunehri Kothi. It is a beautiful little palace that is adorned with mother-of-pearl and many kinds of precious stones.

Other two places you can tour are the Arabic & Persian Research Institute and Toda Rai Singh. If you are on your way to Ranthambore National Park, then this is a great place to stop for a night or a day. Here you can tour the various havelis and mansions in the town.

Gaitor

Enjoy a peaceful holiday visiting Gaitor, which is a rich heritage site that is easily accessible from Jaipur.

Gaitor - Location

It is located 15 kms from Jaipur. It is in the western state of Rajasthan, India.

Gaitor- Must- See Places

While you are on a tour of Gaitor, you can see the cenotaphs (chhatris) of Jaipur's rulers. The finest one of these is the cenotaph of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who was the founder of Jaipur. It is a beautiful structure of white marble that has a splendid dome supported by twenty carved pillars. Other cenotaphs include that of Pratap Singh and Madho Singh II.
